Thank you for your interest in Agritourism
and Sussex County - New Jersey's Greenest County. Agriculture
and tourism are two important components of Sussex County's
economy. Whether you seek farm fresh products, outdoor recreation in the clean country air or to simply take an enjoyable drive through our rural countryside, you can find it in Sussex County.
A visit in the Winter months may include a family outing to find the perfect Christmas tree, ice skating, sledding, a sleigh ride over farm fields or a stay in one of our many Bed and Breakfasts in our farming communities.
Come in the Spring and enjoy the awakening of
nature as fields are planted and baby animals are born. There are farms offering
educational experiences on how our food is produced and why it is so important to "Buy Fresh and Buy Local". Visit a greenhouse or nursery and take home a piece of Sussex County for your own garden or flower bed.
Summertime in the country offers abundant choices. Visit a farm where you can pick your own vegetables, fruits or berries. Our farm stands and farmers markets are great places, too. They have organic produce, fresh eggs, milk, cheese, jams and jellies, salsa and more. If the summer temps starts to rise, our state and federal park lands offer cool lakes for swimming and shaded trails for hiking.
The Autumn is a special time in Sussex
County. Our Fall colors rival those of New England. Enjoy the expansive mountain vistas and the quiet country roads. Outdoor fun also includes horseback riding and harvest activities. Take a hayride to that special pumpkin patch for your Halloween jack-o'-lantern. You can explore one of our corn mazes, too. Then, after a fun day of picking apples, enjoy the fiery colors of Fall while sipping fresh cider and munching on cinnamon apple donuts.
No matter what your favorite season is, we hope you will remember to visit us throughout the year so you can enjoy all the Seasons of Agriculture in Sussex County.
