Thank you for your interest in Agritourism
and Sussex County - New Jersey's Greenest County. Agriculture
and tourism are two important components of Sussex County's
economy. This website is a compilation of information gathered
on those agricultural enterprises that offer products or services
to the public. Whether you seek seasonal farm fresh produce,
the opportunity to pick your own vegetables,
cut your own Christmas tree, enjoy a horseback ride, purchase
flowers, honey, eggs, value added products, local meat and wine or simply to take an enjoyable drive through our rural countryside,
you can find it in Sussex County.
A visit in the Winter months may include a family outing to find the perfect
Christmas tree, a sleigh ride over farm fields or a stay in one of our many Bed and Breakfasts
in our farming communities. Come in the Spring and enjoy the awakening of
nature as fields are planted and baby animals are born. There are farms offering
educational experiences on how our food is produced and why it is so important to "Buy Fresh and Buy Local". Visit a greenhouse or nursery and take
home a piece of Sussex County for your own garden or flower bed. The Summer offers abundant choices - pick
your own vegetables, fruits or berries, farm stands and farmers markets, organic produce, fresh eggs, cheese, jams and jellies, salsa and more. The Autumn is a special time in Sussex
County. Our Fall colors rival those of New England. Our state and federal park lands offer expansive mountain vistas and quiet country roads. Outdoor fun also includes horseback riding and harvest activities.
Take a hayride to that special
pumpkin patch for your Halloween jack-o'-lantern. You can explore one of our hay, corn or sunflower mazes, too. Enjoy the fiery colors of Fall while sipping fresh cider after picking apples.
No matter what your favorite time is, we hope you will remember to return and visit us throughout the year so you can enjoy all the Seasons of Agriculture in Sussex County.
